In this painting titled "Alchemy of Autonomy," I delve into the profound connection between the human figure and its soul, acknowledging that the two are inseparable. The soul breathes life into the body, defining its existence. This symbiotic relationship underscores the notion that one cannot thrive without the other.
Navigating the path of embodying a specific mindset while remaining true to one's authentic self is a formidable challenge. My exploration centers on the internal alchemy of autonomy and its manifestation within the realm of the alter ego. Drawing from extensive observations and conversations over time, I've come to realize that the mindset of autonomy varies uniquely for each individual.
The chosen body pose in this piece reflects my personal interpretation of how autonomy manifests for me. My female energy, resilience and autonomy is able to prevail in spite of society constantly challenging my ability and freedom.
Throughout the figure, clusters of symbols symbolize the organized chaos or "noise" of life that pervades our existence. These symbols highlight our interconnectedness with external influences, emphasizing the crucial balance we must strike with our internal selves—our minds and souls.
The background is crafted with layers of ink washes, complemented by a blend of acrylics, pastels, and charcoal, creating depth and complexity. Symbolically, it represents our interdependence with space, signifying the encompassing support that space provides to our being.
