Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 as the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory by Queen Juliane Marie, who supported its mission to create domestic products. The company gained royal patronage, was privatized in 1868, and experienced a major artistic revival under Arnold Krog as artistic director starting in 1885. It is now a subsidiary of Fiskars and is known for its iconic blue fluted patterns and the Flora Danica collection, which has achieved international recognition for its craftsmanship.
