Lane Furniture started in 1912 as the Standard Red Cedar Chest Company by John and Ed Lane, originally producing only cedar chests. The company expanded into other furniture types like occasional tables in 1951 and casegoods in 1956. After expanding its reach with new product lines, Lane became part of larger conglomerates and is now primarily known for its upholstered furniture, although its history includes a wide range of casegoods and its iconic mid-century modern designs.
