Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, b. 1786) x
Japanese artist Utagawa Kunisada (歌川国貞), born in Tokyo in 1786, was a well-known printmaker. He was widely known for his prints related to the Ukiyo-e ("Pictures of the Floating World"), a movement that lasted from the seventeenth to nineteenth century. Kunisada created many books consisting of illustrative woodblock prints depicting themes of romance fiction, which was very popular during this period.
