his piece is her response to the recent political and societal events happening in our country right now. The artist feels there is such a division in our society, yet we are all so connected in some way. Then she remembered a tree she found on one of her travels. This conifer tree duo was found near a busy city street, connected at the bottom, separated, then connected, continuing this pattern. She found the symbolism of this tree to represent the current state of our society. We have become unified with similar beliefs, yet, we are so divided by different beliefs. This thought is a belief that when we come apart, hate wins, when we come together, love wins. This sculpture ends up being open and divided. The artist leaves it this way, questioning if we will ever become unified again.
