It was influenced by a man named John Mclaughlin who inspired other artists later into the movement. Light and Space is centered around the use of materials such as glass, plastic, resin, and acrylic. It plays around with space and light displaying images on surfaces, working with natural and artificial light like neons or fluorescent ones. The Light and Space art movement relies on light and space in addition to industrial materials and geometric shapes to influence viewers’ perceptions. They use geometric shapes mostly but others have used plywood, or even fiberglass to change the mood.
