Herbert Dewey Ohm (1898 - 1972) loved the American Southwest and would spend his free time exploring and enjoying the unusual and beautiful landscapes of the region. He decided to buy a camera and learn to take pictures of the many interesting things he saw. After moving to San Antonio, Texas, Ohm organized a Camera Club, built his own developing studio, and dedicated himself to photography. In 1949, Ohm was invited to have a one-man show at the Smithsonian, the exhibit of photographs was incredibly popular and the show was extended for some time throughout the spring of 1949.
