“Flotsam” depicts our life story. For the last 30 years we have lived and worked on Sanibel Island. Hurricane Ian, changed all that and the lives of everyone on the Island. Nothing was untouched. We lost our apartment, David his studio and gallery representation. We evacuated the day before to our daughter and her husband on the east coast with our new kitten, Bruno. No Islander’s could return for a month, as the causeway was taken out by the storm. When we returned, we found that an 8 foot storm surge had filled the apartment, everything was lost. But we found magic too, All the love letters we’d written to each other were dry. All my Great Grandmother’s china, intact. All the shell mask I make and placed on top our bed never got wet, they had floated on the mattress to the ceiling!
