A retired attorney, Stacy Yochum, returned to art after many years away. Her creative journey began in childhood, drawing and painting alongside her grandfather, an illustrator. She continued to make art through college but eventually set it aside to pursue a legal career, raise a family, and explore her passion for theater and music.
Since returning to visual art, she has studied at the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park in Maryland, the Art League of Alexandria in Virginia, and with instructors from around the world through online programs. Her mentors have included Lucie Duclos, Jane Davies, Zoey Frank, and Ingrid Christensen. Her work has been selected for juried exhibitions at the Yellow Barn, the Art League of Alexandria, the Rockville Art League, and the Montgomery Art Association, and has received several honors, including a Best in Show award.
She enjoys working in a wide range of media, finding that each one brings its own inspiration. Lush oil paints offer rich textures and layered color, while collage and mixed media invite whimsy and compositional play. For her, art is a process of exploration—sometimes unpredictable, but when it works, deeply rewarding.
