This small ceramic sculpture comes from the Acoma Pueblo tribe of New Mexico. Categorized by their thin walls and light weight, the Acoma have been practicing their pottery uninterrupted for centuries. This work resembles a more traditional Acoma ceramic ware, as it uses the same orange and black paint consistent with traditional Acoma pottery. This figure resembles an owl, with painted feathers along the front and backside of the figure, and other painted details on the head and wings. The bottom of the figure is signed, "LV, Acoma, NM."
