Fields of Dreams
I’m so enjoying classes with Studio Works a Creative Academy.
This piece was a bit of a challenge for me. Partly because I used toned drawing paper which immediately took me to the mid value range. Another challenge was applying Matt Gel Medium to the charcoal before applying the acrylic flowers and ink high lights, using charcoal, and pen.
When I applied the Matt medium to seal the charcoal my painting rippled horribly causing me to stay away for some time. And then I just had to get her done. The rippling is still there but not as bad.
This was a class by founding member Ivy Newport. She communicates the process beautifully. Here is what one student had to say; “Ivy’s teaching approach is exemplary. She prepares us with a history and or research on the process to be presented and proceeds directly and skillfully. She shares her techniques and expertise with us so openly.” Linda C.
I am so grateful to be a part of the Studio Works community. It’s inspiring and supportive.
I learned so much, I’m not sure I would have tried acrylics and ink over charcoal, because the charcoal was sealed with the Matt Medium it wasn’t a problem.
Among the Flowers with Ivy. I love it, thank you so much.
Keeping the brushes wet,
Teresa
