Tash Bardot
Surrey, United Kingdon
Emotive abstract realism artist creating work that evokes hope and resilience, speaking to those who have navigated emotional challenges.
MessageHailing from a small rural town in Queensland, Australia, Tash's artistic journey began in the humble setting of a local artist's garage, where unbeknownst to her, these after-school art classes would lay the foundation for her creative future. Following university studies, Tash embarked on a career as an Occupational Therapist while simultaneously pursuing her passion for professional ballroom dancing. This led her to relocate to the United Kingdom in 2002, where she traveled the world competing, enjoying many successes and titles on the world-class stage.
After retiring competitively, Tash established and directed a successful dance business in London for the following 10 years. During a challenging period dealing with fertility issues, she found solace in art. This was the first time she turned to art amidst emotional hardship. It gave her sacred time, where she forgot the negative thoughts and obsession around her inability to conceive.
After a long 5 years trying to conceive, her beautiful identical twin girls arrived. This was the happiest period of her life and yet coincided with the beginnings of her greatest challenge yet. As a new mum with twins, and covid impacting the world, Tash was victimised by a trusted loved one with years of emotional bullying and manipulation. She remains grateful though, as it has made her stronger, more driven and led her to pursue the life she loves and lives today.
Statement
As a survivor of emotional abuse and bullying, I know too well the impact this can have on our everyday lives, shaping our thoughts and actions in ways we might not even recognise. With the help of art, I've transformed my experiences into a source of strength and inspiration.
My art serves as a beacon of hope for others who have faced emotional hardship, gaslighting or any form of manipulation. I strive to spread awareness of these harmful behaviours and illuminate the beauty within us all. Together, we can rise from the darkness, stand tall, and find those who appreciate us for who we truly are.
