As She Sheds

"As She Sheds" captures the serene essence of a young Mbalantu Tribe woman, her Eembuvi braids cascading to the ground. Having completed her initiation into womanhood, she stands with closed eyes and a proud bearing. Her gaze is fixed on the tenacious Namibian flora known as the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a symbol of resilience, its leaves never shedding as the pollen cones release into the earth. This piece portrays the parallel narratives of women and nature, shedding old layers and embracing newfound strength and fortitude.
