Tarryl Gabel, an award winning Hudson Valley Artist, was born and raised on a cattle ranch on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, ND. She was inspired and encouraged by her grandfather, a self-taught western artist.
Living in the Hudson Valley, her work is now more focused on the landmarks and beautiful landscapes of this region and throughout New England. Tarryl prefers to work plein air, (on location in the "open air") when possible. She also paints wildlife and western paintings, as well as still life paintings when she cannot be outdoors.
Tarryl had the honor to be chosen to paint an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree. At that time, "Our Country's National Parks" was the theme. She was invited to and attended a special reception at the White House. The ornament will remain a part of their permanent collection. Tarryl has also been chosen for the fifth year "Best of the Hudson Valley- Best Artist" by readers of Hudson Valley Magazine.
