I explore surreal tableaux of dreams and experiment with historic photographic process, on a quest to preserve and elevate them. Through these mediums I create a judgment free space where I invite others on the healing path of art making.
Statement
A focus on minimalism fuels my still life work. The clean sophistication of this style is very appealing to me and speaks to me personally, no fancy frills. Yet, full of substance through the beauty of form, texture, contrast and color. This style also works as a catalyst to my other art making processes, as they become the subject or part of the story in my constructed work or converted into an alternative processes piece.
Not always intentionally, much of my work is autobiographical in nature, not just because I use self-portraits as a basis for the storytelling. But it is through my talents for self-reflection and introspection that I create my constructed reality work. These works can be whimsically dark, and surreal or bright and fantasy filled, but they all tend to have common themes: personal healing, mortality, female empowerment and the human condition. I use color and symbolism to create deeply personal imagery. I have little concern for time and place, but instead, focus on the symbolic nature of emotions.
