Rewiring of Hands and Minds
Over the last twenty years, as I’ve been teaching in communities, schools and artists’ groups I’ve gradually worked out a process of guiding hands that are unused to the intricacies and the feel of working with wire. The pieces you see here are but a small sample of these exercises. As the years go on I have noticed the loss of hand skills generally and have adjusted my lessons to using both hands equally. This coaxes hands and brains to rewire themselves by creating cross lateral patterning movements and sparks new neural connections in both hemispheres of the brain.
