Paddock Trees highlights the environmental change on the broadacre farming landscape. Paddock trees are the the single and small stands of trees left in the paddocks form the initial clearing of the landscape for agriculture.
Paddock trees are rapidly declining due to incompatable farming practices such as cultivation of pastures, herbicide and fertilizer application, stock grazing all stressing trees. This along with dieback, lack of regeneration, natural ageing and most recently the second wave of land clearing practices to accommodate widespan GPS controlled machinery has decimated the lone paddock trees. It is estimated that they will be gone within 50–100 years.
