A conversation with Mum and my daughter centring on the revolving door of housework. Repeating the monotonous actions of cooking, cleaning, mending, washing, keeping a home and caring for family.
We laughed about the mundane Mondays, where the washing monster has worn us down, and the dust bunnies roll out from under the bed and there is an ironing basket piled high.
However, viewed differently it is a chance for renewal, achievement and cleaning the old away. There’s some sort of pointless solidarity in knowing that it all goes round again and again and there are millions of women (and sometimes men) around the world doing the same thing.
