This piece grew from charcoal sketches of still life objects, gradually transformed through simplification and colour. Shapes were connected and reimagined with blocks of pigment, and a final layer introduces a winding path-like band that creates intimate spaces.
These bands form windows – small windows within the larger composition – that invite closer viewing. Inspired by Gorky, the work plays with how foreground and background shift in oscillation depending on tone. Colour becomes a guide shaping how the layers interact and the viewer senses space, movement and emotion.
