One of my largest masterpieces yet. I created this piece for my dentist and his wife. They wanted something big, with lots of textures, depth, dimensions and using classic golds, blacks, silvers, with some negative space.
This was inspired by two other similar pieces I've made just on a much larger scale. This is a gallery cradled wood panel, size: 5.5 ft x 4 ft x 1 5/8 ft. Using a variety of modeling pastes, crackle grounds, and pastes, gel glosses both in Matte and Gloss, Fibre texture paste, layer upon layer upon layer of all of these products make this piece have so much dimension, the crackle is deep and large as well as smaller cracks throughout. Using Acrylics in Black, Raw Umber, Titan Buff, and Iridescent Gold in Fine and Deep, constantly layering and wetting, then drying for months created the depth in the cracks.
I also used gilding wax in both gold and silver, as well as ink tents in bark, black, and a bright gold bronze line to separate this dramatic half from the abstract textured off-white half.
So much to see up close in this piece, you truly have to see it in person.
