‘Pacifica’ was a commission for a collector in California. Designed specifically for the space it now inhabits - it’s appx 14’ wide by 7’ high. Is 25 individual sections and is hand built from white clay with colored glazes ranging from a fog white with blue through a pacific bright blue to a dark blue black with blue and white trail lines.
.
It is an abstraction of the Pacific Ocean with waves crashing at the bottom and the horizon at the top it moves with a variation of color the way the ocean does with sunlight on it. The relief is higher at the bottom and calmer at the top.
This was created over a period of 8-10 months. It started with concept discussions with the collector , I provided sketches and then ongoing documentation during creation.
