Tamara Rafkin is an artist that works across various mediums with an extensive background in photography that spans three decades and ceramics for the past 12 years. Recently she has been exploring the idea of transformational artworks that cross mediums and lend themselves to installation artworks. Being drawn to her subject matter by both a personal narrative and an interest in cultural anthropology and philosophy her photographic and installation works explore emotion, spaces and the imprint people leave behind them while the majority of her ceramic works explore organic influences.
Ms. Rafkin’s works have been exhibited in the US, South America and Europe where they are part of many private and public collections. She also works as an editorial photographer with a specialty in music photography in that capacity her works has appeared in international magazines such as VIBE, SPIN, Detour and The Face as well as graced record covers and was published in the late 2000's/early 2010's on a regular basis as part of the culture content for the Flemish Radio and Television News system.
Currently her ceramic work is part of "Eleven Belgian Artists at the Residence" part of the cultural program of the Belgian Consulate General of Belgium to the US in NY and Her photographic series 'Lost&Found" is part of "The Narrative of Things" at Holland Tunnel Gallery which she also curated in Newburgh NY from March 5th to April 10th 2022.
