The house on the Coromandel Peninsula had three named gardens. The gin deck faced west over the ocean, and every evening we were there, we sat amongst the trees and watched the sun go down. Same spot, different sky every time.

This painting holds that feeling -- the warm orange of late light, the deep settle of shadows, small bursts of colour as the day winds itself out. Calm, stillness, gratitude. The sound of waves below. Nowhere else to be.
