This particular wolf, as well as the woman who documented his life (Cheryl Alexander) have flooded many of our hearts with admiration and affection.
Learning about Takaya’s life had left me with several take-aways. His story of survival is amazing, but what I love most about this story is the bond Cheryl formed with him; and how she feels so deeply connected to him as if they old friends from another lifetime. That bond: and her advocacy for wolves to this day- is what has changed so many hearts towards wolves around the world.
In my work as an artist the connection people make with the creatures I paint is paramount. It’s everything. Takaya’s story represents that beautiful connection and bond I try to create in all my work.
I am so thankful for my dear friend who first introduced me to this story, and to Cheryl for her advocacy and work in this field. I am also thankful for all I have learned and how my own heart has grown for the wolves.
