A battered violin case serves as a frame for a blue heron against a vivid sunset. Painted on wood and then coated with a layer of resin, the heron stands guard over the three dimensional nest snugged into the bottom curve of the case, entwined with violin strings and pegs, and resting atop a violin chin rest.
