Show Off, oil on linen panel, 8x10", 2017. Painted during the 13th Annual Plein Air Easton in Maryland. These sheep were very accommodating models. They must have thought I would open the gate for them because they all came up and waited patiently, then, weary of the wait, some of the plopped down and napped. They never got let out of the gate, but they did get their portraits painted. Once I completed the painting, it occurred to me that the hen looked as though she was strutting by a group of onlookers. Thus the title. Show Off.
