Riparia by Suzanne Reed Fine, Image 1.
“Riparia” 20”x22” Acrylic on paper Riparia are highly complex physical and biological systems. Their ecological functions serve as a screen, collecting water, sediments and nutrients from uplands and streams. Riparia retain a portion of these materials and return chemically purer water to the streams and rivers. They are important sources of energy to water systems in the form of organic matter and nutrients, which support the streams food web. This piece was selected to be exhibited in the Annual Signature American International Watermedia exhibition in Fallbrook, California.
