“Balancing between representation and abstraction, many of Reed Fine’s recent paintings offer brushy glimpses of mountains, rocks and breezy meadows. These visions go back to the artist’s childhood in the mountains of Southern Colorado.
Restless and imaginative, it seems fair to say that over time Reed Fine has internalized the energies of nature...It seems impermanent and changeable, like a passing dream.”

Statement
"My artwork is informed by a geographic intersection: the crisp light and clean colors of my childhood in southwestern Colorado, and the softer, more atmospheric influences of my current Georgia home. The juxtapositions of air and weight, movement and stillness, definition and softness reveal a hybrid world within my paintings. I am interested in the expression of movement within nature, how these energies present themselves and interact with their surroundings. Through bold color and intimate lines, the subject itself and its liminal energetic qualities are revealed. Line is the intimate conversation in the crowd of color. Such curiosity roots my work in the world, recognizing the interconnectedness of all things, which, in turn, compels me to be a better human and steward of the earth.”
