Slowing Down marks a threshold. After an extended period of international exhibitions — New York, Miami, Barcelona — this diptych was the first work painted in stillness. Not as retreat, but as arrival. The warm fields of rose and orange hold the energy of what came before; the black line that moves through both canvases is not a boundary but a memory — of motion, now at rest. As the first diptych in Herbold’s practice, Slowing Down opened a new way of working: across two canvases, in dialogue, without urgency.

Slowing Down markiert eine Schwelle. Nach einer intensiven Zeit internationaler Ausstellungen — New York, Miami, Barcelona — entstand dieses Diptychon in Stille. Nicht als Rückzug, sondern als Ankommen. Die warmen Rosa- und Orangetöne tragen die Energie des Vorangegangenen; die schwarze Linie, die durch beide Leinwände zieht, ist keine Grenze, sondern eine Erinnerung — an Bewegung, die nun zur Ruhe gekommen ist. Als erstes Diptychon in Herbolds Arbeit öffnete Slowing Down eine neue Arbeitsweise: über zwei Leinwände, im Dialog, ohne Eile.
