Huppman intends this piece as celebration of the transition from winter to spring. The gradual thawing of the snow in the sun, the new green spreading across the fields have an ancient primal resonance with humans. As we grow more removed from the natural world we often don't appreciate that we are part of nature ourselves. Susan Wolfe Huppman feels very lucky to live in the country on a small farm and to be able to mark and honor the coming of spring.
