Antique Farm Equipment
Rusted pieces of farm equipment are found scattered around parking lots and roadsides that were once farmland. In one piece, the Moldboard plow sits in a bed of drying hydrangea in front of the Notch in Cheshire, CT, a popular breakfast and lunch spot that celebrated its 100th anniversary several years ago. It reminds us of the loss of farmland and local food sources. In these exuberant paintings, I chose to highlight the beauty and intricacy of antique farm equipment, with a nod to contemporary painterly notions of expressionistic brushwork.
