- 18 x 5 x 1 in (45.72 x 12.7 x 2.54 cm)
Part of my Incinerations series, this piece features wildflowers collected from two locations and arranged in a composition inspired by Japanese flower arranging principles. When fired in the kiln, the organic materials burn away, leaving carbon traces and allowing gasses to interact with the softened glass.
The unrestrained results, shaped by heat and chance, hold an element of surprise that I find endlessly intriguing. This work becomes a collaboration between intention and the inherent properties of the materials, reflecting both the fleeting beauty of the natural world and the transformative power of fire.
