Susan J. Zimmerman - biography
Susan J. Zimmerman’s formal art training began as a child at the Pasadena Art Museum
(CA). She lived in Southern California throughout childhood, growing up in a family
that loved art. Formal art studies continued at Skidmore College
(NY), California State University, Los Angeles (B.A.), and Fiberworks
Center for Textile Arts (CA), where she learned to make paper. Papermaking was the
focus of a summer in Japan (1983). Susan moved to New Mexico in 1982 to focus on new opportunities. She has shown regularly in New Mexico and beyond. Honors include being named a Local Treasure by the Albuquerque Art Business Association. Her work was featured in a one person show at Artspace116, Albuquerque (2006-7) in addition to being included in New Mexico Showcase at 516 Arts, Albuquerque (2009), Albuquerque Now (2010) and
Miniatures & More (2009-2015) at the Albuquerque Museum. Currently, she is
represented by Weyrich Gallery and April Price Design Studio in Albuquerque.
