Solace

The glass carving is called Solace. We move forward through our lives eventually noticing where we’ve been carried and comforted. This piece recognizes those times.
It is created by sand carving with silica carbide, a very fine silica abrasive. The drawing is cut into rubber resist with an exacto knife. Each small section is then individually carved and shaped by controlling the blast and direction of silica carbide against the glass. Further free-form sculpting defines the form.
The glass is fire polished starphire clear glass a high quality glass, 12 inch x 12 inch x .50 inch.

The custom walnut wood base is 15"long x 5.5"deep x .5" h. with a nickel holder that screws to tighten the glass. A small decorative screw cover is included.
Clean the glass with a cotton lint-free or microfiber cloth or dust with a soft feather duster. Dampen the cloth with rubbing alcohol to clean any spots.
