These roses grow in my parents' garden and it was painted mostly en plein air - sitting in the garden with the afternoon light shining through the petals. I hope this work conveys to you the serenity and quiet contemplation I felt when I painted it. That you can almost hear the birds singing and feel the movement of the soft summer breeze.
