Nightcliff Foreshore is a popular beach in Darwin. It is characterised by the white and red rocks along its shoreline which are Cretaceous in origin and the underlying Proterozoic rocks which are estimated to be 1,700million years older. The shoreline is being actively eroded, which can be very easily seen during cyclone season when strong winds and waves throw stones onto the walking paths and lawns.
