The History of the Rule of Law is a series of oil paintings chronicling the evolution of law in western civilization. These works grace the walls of the Rule of Law Gallery, located on the 11th Floor of the building, with the story beginning in the southwest corner and continuing clockwise around the room. The six 4-by-8 paintings created by artist Ron Anderson are on permanent loan from the Ohio State Bar Association.
The Signing of the Magna Carta is the third painting. It depicts the signing of the Magna Carta, where King John at Runnymede sits on the left surrounded by dignitaries, knights, and vassals as they watch the proceedings.
