Art Pianos
The "Art Pianos for All" program seeks to bring back the piano as a centerpiece of community and fun by placing artist decorated pianos in public areas for all to play. An annual pop-up concert series utilizing the pianos features professional Utah Orchestra members playing the pianos on site.
Artscape People's Choice Awards
The Artscape sculpture exhibit, hosted from 2011-2016, placed public sculptures in the county’s rural communities for one year. Residents voted on "People's Choice Awards" to select five of the works for permanent addition to the county public art collection.
Commissioned Public Art
In April, 2008, the Summit County Board of Commissioners affirmed their belief that the aesthetic nature and charm of Summit County is further enhanced by the arts. Through ordinance 696, the Commissioners created the Summit County Public Art Program and Advisory Board. The county now allocates 1% of capital facility funds for commissioned public artworks.
County Council Awards
Since the 1990s, Summit County has collected the artwork of talented artists living in the area. Each year the county selects one to two works from the Summit County Fair Art Show to purchase and add to the collection. The collection is on view at the Summit County Administrative Building in Coalville, UT.
George Beard Exhibit
The work of pioneer artist George Beard creates a captivating portrait of the early days of Coalville. Beard’s embrace of glass plate technology skillfully and lovingly documented moments both public and private, and worlds both natural and man-made. Beard’s photographs beautifully capture the transformation of this community across five decades around the turn of the century. The photographs he took of Coalville and the surrounding area are now on display at the Ledges Event Center.
Historical Society Traveling Art Collection
The Historical Traveling Art Collection is an exhibit of local artist's shown in public buildings throughout the county. The collection is on view in the Summit County Administrative Building when not traveling.
Summit County Collection
This collection shows all artworks owned by Summit County and on permanent display in public County buildings.
Temporary Installations
The Summit County Public Art Board produces temporary exhibits showcasing the local artistic talent of community members.
