This lighthearted piece shows a local Broad Tailed Hummingbird enjoying the dwarf sunflowers we see often on Colorado's Western Slope. His head and back are accurately made of iridized teal green glass and his ruby-magenta throat also sparkles a bit, both of which are not picked up by the still photo. You can see it better in the angle shots and short video to come soon.
I wanted to show the playful behavior we often see in birds and other animals when we take the time to observe them. I've decided to practice embodying this delightful energy whenever I work in my studio. This piece shows the Broad Tailed Hummingbird, which likes alpine regions. He frolicks among the dwarf sunflowers we often see in the mountains.
