*I encourage you to take in the work from your own perspective. You don't have to read my interpretation of this painting to enjoy it*
A watercolour, acrylic and gouache portrait I painted in 2017. This piece was actually the first painting I finished since I began a certain relationship. Details aside, we parted ways and I began finishing paintings again, and painting more often. It showed me, for one that my work really does reflect my mind, even if I'm not aware of it at the time; and for two, that I was right to walk away. Although he was a good man and I wouldn't undo our time together if it were possible, the feeling of always waiting for things to get better was drowning me (hence the title). Incidentally, this is also the first work I did with the horizontal lines segmenting a portrait- I think of them as water-levels, or sometimes horizon lines, but please interpret them as you will.
