This is one of a series of pieces I am producing, all centred on candles and seascapes. This one has a special place in my heart because I feel like it most clearly highlights what the series is about: hope and futility; beauty and the rawness of nature; the passage of life and death. Personally, I have multiple interpretations of these works and themes, and I hope that viewers can likewise find meaning in them.

This is a 30cm diameter painting on circular Khadi paper with a deckled edge. Painted in watercolours and gouache.
