This four-panel chronicle tells the tragic, yet hopeful, story of the American Bison. The series acts as a timeline, visually recounting the bison's great slaughter and their subsequent return to the plains. Throughout the work, Buffalo head nickels are embedded into the encaustic, serving as a visceral and poignant symbol of what was stolen—not just a great animal, but the very way of life of the Native peoples who lived alongside it.
