silence, an old crow,
rises slow with sun, circles
black sky blue, shatters.
shards cluster in flocks
chattering morning before
dawn breaks all at once.
a nuthatch circles
brown tree green,
weaving arcs between
dying and dying
while fading moon
lays down her bow,
plays pizzicato on
crystal clouds.
