Mrs. Margaret Katherine Thomas (nee Wilks) joined the staff of St. Michael's Grammar School in 1945 as a teacher of French and English. She was appointed Headmistress in 1965, a position she held until her retirement in 1979. Mrs. Thomas dies on 10 October, 2002.
