ABOUT THIS PRINT
Started in a japanese woodcut printmaking workshop with Toshi Yoshida, at the Visual Arts Center of Alaska. The image was taken from a news story on TV, about this woman who had part of her brain surgically removed. Quick sketches were made from the TV, and the printimage was born. (Artist's note: Toshi Yoshida was a wonderful artist and excellent instructor.)
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Inks and application, paper registration and printing by hand were learned and accomplished in the traditional Japanese woodblock technique. Using brushes, water, paste, Japanese baren. Three woodblocks. Knives sharpened better than ever following Yoshida's methods.
