ABOUT THIS PRINT
A loon in profile.
Artist's description: "The first print I made at the Visual Arts Center of Alaska. Print Studio Manager Ron Viol advised me in how-tos. The image of a loon came from my first introduction to ivory carving of a loon made by Alaska native artists: the tiny loons, about 2-3 inch long, were totally new to me and unforgettable. Thus this graphic version had to happen. At the time, I was yet to see my first loon, though I had already heard the magical call of the loon in the months preceding my introduction to the Visual Arts Center of Alaska, where Alaska native artists came and went, some staying for years.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
