The big view from Mount Bonnell in Austin, Texas in the summer of 1974. The artist spent a couple of months in Austin area doing some paintings, this was among the first. Having completed the painting, he proceeded downhill knocking on doors to find a buyer for the painting. The third door was the home of a retired president of Suwanee College, who said: 'you must have just done this painting.' The artist then learned it was uncommon to see these clouds over Austin, but there they were during the days of working on this painting from life, on top of that mountain. The artist then did two paintings for the retired president, and the Mt. Bonnell painting was later given to the artist's cousin in Austin, Clint Dare, and it is currently owned by Clint's son, Brian Dare, in Austin.
