Double pine -- two pines, one behind the other -- painted on ranch road close to Sean's ranch in Vero Beach, Florida. When the artist started this painting, he was intrigued to see a pine with so many branches, not at first aware that he was looking at two pine trees instead of one. At left edge of the painting, and at back right, the dark trees are Australian pines, not native to Florida. In fact, they are on the invasive pest plant list. Formerly, those fast-growing trees were planted to provide shade. Now they are generally removed.
