Painted on the Little Susitna River near Wasilla, Alaska. The salmon, at lower right, did appear at just the right time. This was late August, sliding into September, and fall colors are happening. It was the artist's intention to continue work on this painting, but, alas, trees were cut and this view was transformed forever. Thus, the state of the painting would stay as is. A remembrance -- a bit hazy, it seems -- when the Little Su was, for some years at this location for this artist, a magical sanctuary place where small animals left tracks in the mud, beavers cut branches and slid down the river's bank, and a moose calf seemed to be born almost every year.
