Spearfish Canyon, Plein Air by Bonnie Halsey-Dutton Image: “My paintings are infused with my interests in the rich heritage of South Dakota, art history, and global travel. I particularly enjoy painting Black Hills landscapes, and I frequently make the outdoors my studio by painting in plein air. I utilize watercolor on either Ampersand Claybord or Yupo paper, painting with AQUA-Fix by Schmincke. This allows me to apply vibrant color in multiple layers. I find my technique conducive to creating a glassy surface through layering of multiple colors. My artwork reflects a passion for mountain living and the restorative impact of nature.”
